About

Raj of MT Herald

This blog is owned and authored by a medical transcriptionist, Raj (Rajasekharan N.) whom you could see in the picture here!

A picture is worth a thousand words, isn’t it? So let me hope you are having that first impression, the best impression, that I could avoid writing about me a thousand words! Okay, the difficult part is writing an autobiography or defining about oneself. Let me try that for you here.

I am:

  • A civil engineer by education. Since stock market, real estate business, construction, textile industry etc., are the first to get affected by a recession, I too got affected with my multiple business initiatives with economic slowdowns that occurred in my early career (or blame it on the lack of experience and scattering the eggs in too many nests). Hence I was looking for a career change, preferably a recession proof job to pay my bills. A careful study on the previous global economic depressions revealed healthcare is the last (and least) to get hit by a slump and since I also have an aptitude to human anatomy and medicine, ended up with medical transcription.
  • A medical transcriptionist since 1999 until this date. Occupied different capacities as transcriptionist, editor, team leader, quality analyst, manager etc., in a couple of medical transcription service organizations (MTSOs) before getting into the shoes of an independent medical transcription contractor/home transcriptionist. Independent medical transcription contractor since 2003, mainly into the discipline of radiology.
  • An introvert, hate to talk much, but medical transcription is what I’m passionate about especially due to the convenience this profession offers to work at home at my own convenient hours, and I’m converting my yackety yakkings on medical transcription to transcripts on this blog to be helpful for potential aspirants. Also have an apt to network with other fellow medical transcriptionists, and blogging fulfills that to a great extent.
  • Having a custom search engine “googleMT” of my own, a search engine exclusively for medical transcription. Anybody is welcome to try it and report any improvements in its performance that can be done, I update it consistently on a regular basis.
  • Into multiple businesses like emu rearing, stocks, farming, construction, real estate etc., apart from MT.
  • Part-time blogger since the inception of this blog.
  • Very much disorganized but striving to be organized.
  • A part-time, voracious reader.
  • Eager to solve tough puzzles but nothing with complex variables, algebra and equations in mathematics and chemistry equations (allergic to those alfa, beta, gamma but love doing anything numeric with calculator).
  • Bound to write bulleted/numbered list whenever possible.
  • A momentum investor turned value investor.
  • Fond of traveling (long drive), swimming, trekking (greenery lover).
  • Married and father of a boy.
  • A multilingual person able to handle English, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and Marathi.

Long story short, before 1999 and after studies, along with construction/real estate business, was into multiple businesses; was a stock broker, a moneylender, a ready-made garment manufacturer, a yarn manufacturer, a yarn trader, a FMCG stockist, a small fleet operator, or say “Jack of all trades, master of none,” with an end result of huge loss and bad debts; then a medical transcriptionist thereafter for a living.
