One senior Indian lady posed me a question: “I’m retired, can I divert to
medical transcription to earn some income?” I was surprised but she was serious. She wanted to utilize her free time efficiently that it would fetch some income (as she is feeling a sort of bored retired life already). My answer to her was: Age is not a barrier for achieving. Have you heard the
idiom, “where there is a will, there is a way?” That works well here. It all depends on your intellectual ability to learn
new terminologies everyday, cope up with challenges everyday. If you have all these in you along with determination, then it is not a problem at all provided you are proficient in
English. If you have that fire within yourself for achieving even in your dusky years, you can choose medical transcription; choose the right
training and opening, however. Apart from age factor, read the post on
what is required basically to be a MT. Retirement doesn’t mean that you have to seclude yourself isolating away from the world! There is a life after retirement too.
