The main reason for routing/
outsourcing any back office work to
India/any third-world countries/Asian countries is the cost advantage due to the availability of cheap labor there. The time difference between US and India is another factor. The work assigned by a US
doctor at evening US time to a BPO office in India gets done when the doctor is back to his office the very next morning. That is a minimum turnaround time (TAT) of approximately 12 hours.
Unlike call centers where you have to compulsorily work during the day hours of the country you are serving (may be night time in India), in most cases with healthcare BPOs, you do not have to compulsorily work at night unless the client requires stat/emergency reports, where you have to work along with the client’s office hours.
Secondly, India is having a huge English known/speaking population. That is an incredible advantage when this population is seeking office sitting, computer related, white-collar jobs.
Of course, the ultimate factor is the currency rate difference between Indian Rupee and US Dollar.
