Foreword
Disclaimer
Any content that I publish on this blog is my perspective on the subject and I’m sharing my expertise on the subject and need not be accurate or correct information. You are, therefore, requested to confirm the authenticity and veracity of the subjects published before applying/adopting the information.
Spam prevention
While comment spam continues to proliferate, I can and will do my part to help combat it. I have two good spam filters in place which automatically catch the majority of the automated spam comments, and if at all any slip through the filters, I delete it immediately. All IP addresses used for spamming will be reported to the internet blacklists, the ISPs/hosts of the offending domain will be notified, and the owner of the IP block will be notified of the problem.
Language, length and format
This blog has a diverse audience with different sensibilities and opinions. Hence, please avoid harsh language and the use of profanity. Flaming or use of threatening language or defaming anybody/any institution or any such intellectual property rights violation is not allowed nor will it be tolerated.
Ideally, your comment will be under 200 well chosen words with paragraphs, punctuations and spaces as found necessary. No advertisements, canvassing for products and services on the comments section will be allowed.
Links
Relevant links in comments are actively encouraged. If you are leaving a comment on my blog and want to point to a link on your own or somebody else’s site that is relevant to the topic, then please feel free to do so. This adds to the conversation and improves the blog but note that excessive and/or inappropriate links will be removed.
Double check your links, because any link which returns an error, leads to a site under construction or cannot be loaded by the browser will be removed.
Signature lines
You are welcome to add your website’s link in the designated URL box just below your name and e-mail ID, and your name will automatically be hyperlinked but make sure you add a proper human name. I really don’t feel comfortable addressing someone as Dear “So and so website” when responding to a comment. It would be really annoying to other readers as well reading “Some Spam Site said:” and then reading your comment after that. Hence in the event that I know you, I’ll simply modify your anchor text to include your name; otherwise I’ll delete the reference to your website or perhaps your entire comment.
E-mail IDs
Please use a valid e-mail ID when commenting on the articles. It will not be displayed unless you type it in the body of your comment (if found in the body, I usually edit out) and you will not be subscribed to any mailing list by leaving a comment.
I reserve the right to contact you via e-mail regarding any comment you make. If found that an invalid e-mail address has been used at any point in time, your comment will be deleted – no exceptions. Note that all your actions on this blog could be traced with reference to your IP even if you don’t provide a valid e-mail ID.
E-mail alert of subsequent comments
In order to receive notification of comments left after yours, it is essential that you provide a valid and working e-mail ID. You will not be subscribed to a mailing list as a result of subscribing to the comments and you can have your e-mail ID removed at any time by visiting the unsubscribe option at the end of the e-mail alert. To sign up for comments, make sure to leave the check mark next to “Notify me of follow up comments via e-mail” before submitting your comment.
Comment moderation
In order to maintain the integrity of the blog and its contents, all comments, trackbacks and pingbacks made to MT Herald are moderated. I work to review and approve comments as quickly as possible, but please do not resubmit your comment if it does not appear right away.
Comment editing
I reserve the right to edit or delete comments as I feel necessary. Irrelevant comments will be deleted at once and blatant spelling and grammatical errors will be edited and serious edits will be notated at the end of the comment. If your comment conveys a coherent thought, it may just be edited; tirades will most likely be deleted. At no time will I attempt to alter the core meaning of a comment.
Afterword
Once a person publishes a comment on my blog, he or she will be the copyright holder of that comment; i.e., you, and only you, are responsible for your words. They are yours and you get to keep them; however, by posting your comments to this blog, you are granting me the right, in perpetuity, to use, alter, and/or display them however I see fit. Once your comment is submitted, that’s it – you’re immortalized.
This comment policy may be updated as and when needed ideally to suit the laws and requirements, so please make sure to check back every so often.
It is implied that you have read these comments policies and agree to comply before leaving a comment on MT Herald.
