My desktop PC comprises of a processor of AMD Athlon 3200+ 2.01GHz with 1GB RAM running Windows XP Professional SP2, MS Office Professional 2003, Tally 9.2 (an Indian accounting software), Internet Explorer 6 sp2, Quicktime 6.5.2, Yahoo Messenger 9, Core FTP Lite version 2.1, BSNL wireline high speed broadband, Adobe Reader 8, Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0, Java 6 version 17, AVG antivirus version 8.5, SuperAntiSpyware 4.33, Quick Look 2005 with a lot of my user added drug names, Stedman’s dictionary version 6 and a host of medical specialty-wise word finders, and peripherals like HP Laserjet P1007 printer, footpedals, amp, etc. Everything has been working fine for my profession of home-based medical transcription.

However, on installing Windows Internet Explorer 8, my QuickLook 2005 takes a hit in that it is unable to display the description portion of a drug. The IE8 was installed after closing all programs including AVG. I have been forced to roll back to IE6. Where could the problem lie? Please do not suggest to switch to Firefox or Chrome as I am only familiar with IE that I have been using for decades.

QuickLook is based on the platform Internet Explorer, hence works in relation.  Since IE8 was released in March 2009, and your QuickLook dates back to 2005, obviously there will be compatibility issues, which I too had with my QuickLook 2005 after installing IE8 on my Windows XP machine.

Even IE7 was released at a later date in October 2006, hence compatibility with IE7 needs to be checked out.

The solution as far as I know is to either roll back your Internet Explorer to an earlier version or to upgrade your Quick Look to a new version. Simple, isn't it?

Thanks Raj.  Erich Krueger of Technical Support, Wolters Kluwer Health at Lippincott Williams and Wilkins (800-638-3030, techsupp@lww.com) had stated that he had checked the matter at his end and found it a non-issue.  Subsequently he stated “At this point I'd like to invite you to an online support session, where I could access your computer remotely and work on this further……”  I could never allow that for obvious reasons. Wink

Good.  So you are well aware of HIPAA! (and very well aware of various other obvious issues in allowing access for others to your puter!) hehehe

But you need to have IE in your system for Quick Look to work since Quick Look Electronic Drug Reference is based on IE platform!
