Luzerne County Community College is offering a new non-credit online course for those interested in becoming a medical transcriptionist. “Medical Transcription” is a six-week course that teaches students how to transcribe the medical records used in the healthcare industry and how to get started, and advance, as a medical transcriptionist.

For more information, or to register, call the LCCC Continuing Education Department at 740-0495 or (800) 377-LCCC, extension 495 or go to www.ed2go.com/lccc .

Is this an accredited on-line class?  Do you get a certificate when it is over?  Without a certificate, there is no job.  On 6-weeks of class, that hardly gets you any knowledge whatsoever.  Been there, I know.

This is an interesting idea.  Does anyone know the quality of such a service?  It might be a good way to tell potential employees how to determine if medical transcription is the right field for them.
