I also believe it's an issue.  How can we as transcriptionists act on this information?

dudleyb,

Could you be more specific about how such a program would work... I have basic programming skills and am very curious.  Thanks!

Kathy

Abishai,

Welcome to the forum.  I have gained a lot of value from this website, and this forum.  Hopefully you can do the same.

How much experienced are you?  Are you just learning or otherwise?

$0.07 to $0.08 are the usual flat base rates that I have heard of.  Depending up on your experience, need and urgency of the client like in the case of stat reports, it can be even $0.12 or above.  However, yours seems to be well below that even a Philippines or Indian company would doubt to accept.  Yup, it seems to be a slave rate for me!

$5 an hour!   Huh   I would be trying a better paid job than fiddling with the keyboard for mere $40 an 8-hour workday!!!!   Embarrassed

Hello All!

My name is Dawn, and I've recently started as an MT with a company out of South Carolina.  They pay $0.05 per line.  Is that good, acceptable, slave wages?  At my current speed, it comes out to about $5.00 an hour.  It feels like I'm putting in a lot of time for not a lot of return.

What do you think?  Thanks for your input!

I would imagine that an internship with a medical transcription company would be a good thing.  Full-time job experience is preferred, but if that is not an option, which is very true for some people, then an internship would show some legitimate work experience.
