Get More Traffic With BlogRush
BlogRush is a “blog syndication network.” The prime objective of this service is to get more traffic and readers. It works with a WordPress widget that a blogger needs to put on his blog. The widget displays the latest post titles of other blogs on the network. Here is how it works:

A blog earns a “syndication credit” to the tune of one credit for each page view. For eg., every time the widget loads on this blog, one of the latest article title of this blog will be displayed on some other blog. If a blog has 100 daily page views, its titles will be displayed on some other blogs on the network 100 times daily. Referrals also earn credits. Every time the WordPress widget is displayed on the referred blog, it too accrues credit. The referral network goes down for ten generations.
The Blog Rush widget sits perfect on the sidebar on almost all blogs and doesn’t seem to be just another piece of annoyance. The Blog Rush widget displays around 40 characters of the title (whereas approximately 66 characters by search engines). Hence it’s very much important to choose the attractive title for your articles to pull the crowd from some other blog.
Therefore, if you’re a blogger, increase blog traffic with BlogRush that you could never dream of on your own without a massive advertising budget and it’s absolutely free! Watch the video below for more details with your headsets on.
Update: BlogRush is Shutting Down:
Here is the message that appeared on their site today (10/30/2008).
After careful consideration, we have decided to shutdown the BlogRush service. If you have the widget code on your blog you will need to remove it.
Further elaborating the reasons for closure, Reese says
BlogRush didn’t grow without its fair share of problems — from security issues to abusive users trying to ‘game’ the system to much lower click-rates than expected. We also had some problems with trying to fairly control the quality of the network, and in the process made many mistakes in deciding what blogs should stay or go. All of these issues, ultimately, limited the service’s full potential.
Our team worked very hard to try and build a service that would truly help bloggers of all sizes get free traffic to their blogs. This was our primary focus. Not once did we ever try to monetize the service with ads or anything else. BlogRush never made a single penny in revenue. We wanted to be able to help our users FIRST and then worry about monetizing the service later. Unfortunately, the service didn’t work out like we had hoped. (It happens.)
It didn’t bring scores of traffic as anticipated to this blog and at one point in time, I removed the widget from this blog after evaluating its poor performance and I anticipated such sort of official closure from the organizer itself.
So the lifespan of this great idea is only about a year, what a sad demise! Even stalwarts and internet marketing wizards like John Reese are not insulated from failures!
