By Raj | Jul 15, 2007

It is obvious for anyone in India to have this doubt, what would be a medical transcriprtionist’s salary? How much a medical transcriptionist can earn in India? Anywhere between four digits to six digits per month. Depending on your skill, dedication, willingness to work etc., your earning too differs as in any field.

In the US, as an employee in an office or hospital, transcriptionists may be paid by hour. A starting transcriptionist in an office may make around $8-12 per hour. After two years of experience, one can expect to make around $12-20 per hour in an office. Self-employed transcriptionists may start up around $10-15 per hour (7-14c per line), and within several years can expect to earn $15-40 per hour, depending upon the type of work and equipment used.

Equate these numbers to arrive into a conclusion about medical transcription earnings in India. Depending on the contract procured or the office one is working with, depending on the typing speed, depending on the clarity of dictation, the amount an MT can earn is a variable as mentioned in the first para.

“Anywhere between Rs. 1000/= to Rs. 100000/= per month.”

I suggest the information provided to beginners like me, should have been more precise and in turn would have brought in more visitors / interested persons to visit your site and seek advices, to update their information.

    Thank you,

One can start as a Medical Transcriptionist, but with experience and by honing listening skills and improving proof reading skills, one can become a proofer reader, quality analyst, or an editor and earn up to 25-30k per month

Guys! Guys! Wait a minute!! A transcriptionist in America (the beginner) gets $30000/- per year thats whopping Rs.15,00,000.. Ofcourse we are cheap people. But don’t be that cheap!!

Dont work at these places for salaries of Rs.7000/- month and dreaming of earning Rs.25000/- a month at the most..Thoda Aur Wish Karo Saathiyo!!

Only few will reach and that too only Rs.25000/- in India. Dont unemploy the poor Americans and if you do then atleast keep some standard of yourself. Dont work for these meagre salaries.. Demand atleast Rs.6 to 8 laks annual.

    Take care…
